My favorite Korean chicken

Korean culture has a lot to offer, but for now, I'm going to focus on gochujang. This savory, spicy sauce is a heavenly combination of red chili powder and fermented soybeans. You can find gochujang at just about any Asian market, but I buy my favorite from the World Market in downtown Seattle.

I'll give you vague directions on how I prepare dinner for my family of 4.

Ingredients

  • 3 boneless chicken breasts
  • A few tablespoons of gochujang (enough to thoroughly cover)
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • Fresh or frozen broccoli florets
  • Your choice of rice

Directions

  1. Combine gochujang and soy sauce in bowl
  2. Slice chicken breasts thinly
  3. Place chicken in marinade
  4. Marinate for at least 30 minutes (I marinated my chicken for 3 hours)
  5. Pan fry chicken until it temps at 165 degrees
  6. Slice chicken into strips
  7. Serve immediately over steamed broccoli and rice

So there you have it! Seven easy steps to a delicious, Korean-inspired dinner. I kept the measurements and directions vague intentionally, so you can flavor your meal to-taste. Have fun with it, and I hope you enjoy gochujang as much as I do!
